Craig Harper is the founder of Mole Valley Asset Management (MVAM), established 10 years ago with the vision of creating a community-based investment business. After over two decades of experience investing for professional clients, Craig wanted MVAM to focus on engaging with individual investors and small companies ensuring a closer relationship between investors and their money than is the norm in financial services. This reflects his belief that life is about relationships. Under his leadership, MVAM has grown client numbers and funds by more than tenfold. Craig emphasizes a deep understanding of markets and the importance of a strong company culture in serving both clients and employees effectively.

Compliance Manager

Lisa is the Compliance Manager at Mole Valley Asset Management. She ensures that we comply with all current regulation, maintaining our relationship with the Financial Conduct Authority and would be the contact for any complaints that clients may have. She has previously worked at JP Morgan in the City of London for a number of years, before choosing to work more locally. Lisa lives in Dorking and enjoys the beautiful local countryside with her family and young Labrador.

Director and CIO

Duncan Sanford is a Director and the CIO for MVAM. He has over 25 years’ experience in the international financial industry, successfully combining direct investment and managing active investment teams. He worked as CEO and CIO for Nestlé Capital Management Ltd accountable for the global pension fund assets, managed both internally and externally. He joined MVAM from LGPS Central Limited, an aggregation of nine UK public pension funds, where he was the responsible for building the internal investment team and selecting external investment opportunities.

Rachel is the Finance Director for MVAM. Rachel has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry working as an accountant for Citigroup Asset Management, ABN Amro and Aviva before moving into project management at Aviva. She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Investment & Systems Administration Manager

Vikki has worked in investment support roles since the turn of the millennium including stints at London based firms Julius Baer and Daiwa SB Investments. She joined MVAM when it opened in 2014 helping to set up the systems and welcome our new clients. She manages the investment administration department and keeps the systems rolling. The job title says it all!

Aidan joined MVAM in March 2021 and has experience in project management and private equity. He graduated in 2020 with a master’s degree from London Business School and holds a BEng in Civil Engineering. Aidan joined MVAM as an Assistant Portfolio Manager, responsible for providing support to the portfolio managers over a range of investment processes.

Sherry joined us in early September 2021. She brings with her a successful background in building and maintaining client relationships whilst dealing with the day to day nitty-gritty of administration and on-boarding. Sherry has a passion for numbers, so much so she became AAT qualified to Diploma level in her spare time. If she isn’t hard at work, Sherry enjoys going to the gym, checking out the next new movie in the cinema or dining out.

Sarah has eleven years’ experience as a financial adviser, providing clients with holistic financial advice. Sarah joined MVAM in 2022 having built up her own advice business in Hertford over the previous nine years. Prior to becoming a financial adviser Sarah worked for 20 years as an investment manager working for a number of prominent investment houses including SG Asset Management where she worked with Craig Harper. Sarah holds a Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, a Teaching Degree and a Degree in Business.

Annemarie joined the Hertford office in 2022 supporting both new and existing clients. She brings with her a breath of experience including 15 years in the financial services industry as well as a stint in Real Estate. Annemarie became a financial adviser to help people reach their goals whether that is planning for retirement, making the most of your investments or putting protection for your family in place. Annemarie holds a Masters’ Degree and a Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. When not at work, Annemarie can be found at home with her family or on the tennis court. She likes to travel as and when she can get away with it…

Elena joined MVAM in November 2023 and has recently achieved a distinction in her business college course. She is our first apprentice and will be studying towards a financial services qualification. In her spare time Elena enjoys dining out and meeting up with her friends.
Trainee Paraplanner

Gabriele is a trainee paraplanner at Mole Valley Asset Management. He studied Mechanical Engineering at University of Surrey before working in the Travel Insurance business and then moved into financial advising and is currently studying towards his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. He is an excellent cook (by his own account, although no one in the office can yet attest to that) and during his free time he enjoys travelling and playing football.

Alison (Ally) spent many years working as a Personal Finance writer for The Motley Fool, as well as writing for financial websites, newspapers and magazines. She decided to qualify as a Financial Adviser after meeting with one and being thoroughly impressed with how effectively she could map out her family’s future. Ally enjoys helping clients of all ages to reach their financial goals, plan for retirement and generally be as tax efficient as possible. She holds a degree in Chemistry, the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, the European Financial Adviser certificate and is currently working towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner. When not at work, Ally can be found walking with friends in the Surrey Hills, travelling with her family or protecting her fridge from her teenage sons.

Alasdair joined MVAM in September 2024 as a placement student, from the University of Bath, studying International Development with Economics. He is working out of the Dorking office, and in his own time he can be found doing several sporting activities and is also a very keen traveller, with hopes to explore South America after graduating university.

Katy is a Paraplanner at MVAM. She is a political science graduate and has worked in finance since leaving university. Katy is currently studying towards her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Outside of work, Katy loves going to the gym, spending time with her family and running in the beautiful Surrey Hills.

Portfolio Managers Assistant

Patrick joined MVAM in October 2024 after graduating with a degree in Mathematics from The University of Sheffield. During his studies, he honed his investment management skills as a portfolio manager for the student-led Twikker Fund. Based in York, Patrick is an avid rugby player and enjoys spending time with his family and their 12 dogs. When not on the pitch, he can often be found skiing, surfing, or planning his next adventure.
